I am Debanjan Mookherjee, Founder and Western Vocal Coach, DMVocalAcademy

I am a professional Western vocal coach, certified in Grade 8 Vocals by Trinity College London (Rock & Pop). I focus on helping students become confident, expressive singers while also preparing them for Trinity Rock & Pop Vocal exams from Initial Grade to Grade 8. My sessions cover vocal techniques, modulations, breath control, range, clarity, improvisation, basic composition, music theory, and performance skills to get one concert-ready. Over the years, I’ve worked with 100+ students from around the world, across a wide range of age groups and vocal skill levels. While I do not teach instruments directly, I also work closely with students who already play an instrument—such as guitar, keyboard, or ukulele—and help them develop the ability to sing and play simultaneously, enhancing their musicianship and performance skills. I am also a performer and a member of HJP (Hooghly Jam Project)—a band that organizes one of the largest Western rock and pop concerts on the Hooghly River, hosted live while sailing. It has been a truly unique and vibrant experience bringing live music to audiences in this format. With over 20 years of experience in Western music, I’ve performed extensively as a solo artist and as part of ensembles, exploring genres like classic rock, soft rock, country, pop, ballads, reggae—and even Hindi and Bengali crossovers.

A Brief Note Penned Down By Me:

Music is life. My journey began with learning the keyboard, then the guitar—and soon I discovered a natural inclination for singing. From school performances to college band shows, and eventually to performing at various venues, my musical journey has been one of continuous learning, creativity, and joy. Over time, I’ve also ventured into song writing and composition. I’ve composed original songs and jingles for brands such as CREDO and MNCs like Intertek, with some of our work featured on big screens at various cinemas and also used worldwide for their various centres. These experiences have added new dimensions to my journey and shaped me into the artist and coach I am today. I truly believe that action speaks louder than words—so I encourage you to explore my work and performances to get a real sense of my style and approach.
